The Swedish staff would like to welcome Daniel Odlander as our new Air Traffic Control Operations Coordinator. Daniel has been with us since 2006, and hope to continue to develop all ATC related areas in the division.
SE staff
SE Air Traffic Control Operations Coordinator, Rob Overdijk, has decided to leave the Swedish staff. We are sad to see him leave, but we would like to thank Rob for his magnificent work he did during his time in the staff.
Some of the projects Rob has been working with are of the size that is very rare in the division. For example, the Swedish quickview contains more than 250 airports and the actual data for them. The new Swedish sector file is filled with satellite data that will make ground layouts precise. His local procedures for Stockholm Arlanda Airport contains a lot of information useful both for new and experienced controllers.
Hi have not only contributed with documentation and procedures; his knowledge and skill has been to a lot of help for the division in many cases. With a wide passion for aviation and his ability to dig deep through official aviation documentation, Rob could easily answer specific and detailed questions.
Rob will continue to work in the division until the local procedures are finished, and thereafter leave the staff.
Rob has been awarded with the IVAO Sweden spirit award for his contribution. We hope that he will remain active as a pilot and controller in our airspace.

We have been working with a page that will help you as a member to see more about our ongoing projects in the division. At the same page, you can also leave proposals if there is anything you feel needs to be done, such as an event or a new feature on the web. The possibility to leave feedback on the work we do is included as well.
Browse our ongoing and finished projects by scrolling down the page and click on each projects ID number, which will lead you to a closer description of the project and some time marks.

Since a year or so, IVAO Sweden has been on Facebook. The outcome has been quite good, but in order to increase the possibility to interaction and also the flexibility, we have introduced a completly new group which will replace our so called "individual account. In order to read the messages posted on our group wall, but also to post new messages and share photos, you will have to be a member of the group. We have created a tool which helps pilots to find a route between two airports. At this time, about 100 routes are inserted in the database, based on the most popular routes from/to Swedish airports. It can be found via pilots --> route finder, or via this link.
If there is any specific route you want to be added, or if you find a route that needs to be updated by any reason, please send us an e-mail at se-tc@ivao.aero AND se-ec@ivao.aero. We hope that the tool will help you through your flight operations!

Whats is cooking in ATC department?
We are currently busy revising the Sweden Sector file again. As promised the sector file will have a quarter update based on the latest airacs. Next to these amendments/updates, most larger fields will be completely redrawn and non existing fileds like Kiruna, Luleå and Visby for example will be added.
You will find new feateres like clearly marked aircraft stands/gates, detailed buildings and a colorscheme that can be configured to your personal liking. Military fields or mixed civil/military fiels will have the aircraft shelters and taxiways/aprons drawn for future military operations. Also added are the VFR entry/exit markers which makes it easier to inform traffic on the entries or exits they need to use when making use of the ESAA quickview.
Expect the new file end of 1st quarter 2012 or maybe earlier !

- Varje medlem får skicka in som mest två bilder per månad
- Ibland är det inte kvaliteten i bilden som räknas mest, utan helheten i sig, t.ex. om man har tagit en bild på en ovanlig plats
- Nu i januari så måste alla skärmdumpar vara inskickade i den här tråden senast den 25 januari.
We would like to inform you about that the response time on e-mails sent to SE-TC will be longer than usual (expect a delay of 48 hours). All planned training and examination sessions has been cancelled until further notice.
Flight Academy
As of January 15th the Flight Academy will land in Sweden and shall open its training hubs in a designated area in Västernorrland and Jämtland. The Flight Academy is a unique privatly initiated flight training school that prepares students for IVAO PP, SPP, CP and ATPL ratings. It's managed by several skilled and motivated people that are driven to learn young and old the ins and outs of flight.
By facilitating the Flight Academy the Swedish Division and it's members are helping flight students to become skillfull users of the IVAO network in a unique cooperation that is all about education, hobby and most of all fun. We hope to have made another step forward towards crowded (Swedish) IVAO skies.

The German Viking Tour has been launched, and many pilots all over the world does now fly over Scandinavia. This give Swedish ATC a perfect opportunity to get some good amount of traffic, not only at the higher center positions, but also at smaller regional airports.
Borlänge (ESSD) is the airport that is most actual at this time. However, Östersund (ESNZ), Sundsvall (ESNN) and Visby (ESSV) is also on the tour list. Controllers may log in to TWR-positions at these airports. More information is available through the Swedish AIP at LFV, or via the Swedish Quickview.

Dear Members,
We are currently working with updates of our local procedures. Therefore, we have taken the decision to move the local procedures of Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA) to a temporary web page. It does not look very fancy, but it will be much better when our work is finished.
Thank you for your patience.

SE HQ has presented the overhauled data regarding aerodrome information in Swedish airspace. We expect the logistics department to process the new aerodrome data within 2 weeks. By then all pilots and air traffic controllers will be able to make full use of the updated database.
Our goal is to add, modify or delete airports, VOR, NDB and intersections according to the new AIRAC1111 data, by the end of october 2011. During this time the quickview will be updated and small errors will be fixed.
Sweden is presenting you a worlds first quickview containing all 154 active Swedish airports and 2 Danish airports in Swedish FIR.
A unique document that offers controllers (and pilots) an unprecedented compact datapackage you have never seen before.
From delivery and startup, ground operations, missed approaches, MSA, SID, STAR, navigation beacons, communication frequencies etc etc.. it's all there. Now you are able to instruct virtualy every aircraft anywhere anyplace in Swedish airspace bij the turn of a mousewheel. No more stressfull searching for charts and procedures information, it's all there on 3x 4 pages, ready to print out or have it shown on your second monitor.
Easy colorcoding will provide a recognizable data enviroment, enabling you to interpret that data in a quick and relaxed way.
Have fun with this new ATC tool.
The sector file has been revised. All navdata is updated AIRAC 1110 and FIR boundry has been overhauled.
The last months there has been an increased ATC coverage of Swedish airspace combined with the many events, the results are noticable. More and more traffic in and outbound and overflying our SE-FIR boundary.
Tack alla! Have fun !
Keep it up, keep 'm flying....

We are currently working with our route database. As of today, we have removed about 85% of all routes that have its departure or destination at any airport in the Swedish airspace. Our plan is to add completly new routes from the latest airac in order to give you the most recent and updated data avilable.
We are also working on a system which will result in that you can download flightplans from our website and import in IvAc, which will give you the whole flightplan with the route, departure, destination, flight time, endurance, flight number, aircraft type and so on already filled in. This is for everyone who wants to fly in a more realistic way. There are however no timeframe for this project; we say that most departments inside the IVAO organisation does - We will let you know when it is finished.

We have earlier announced that we have improved our availability towards our members, but also other aviation fans significantly. We have become a member in social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, but we have also increased our news flow on the largest flight simulation in the nordic countries, FSNordic. Our latest improvement in this kind of service is now available, and it is maybe the most interesting so far. IVAO Sweden:s new live chat system is fully operational for everyone to use.
You can find it at http://www.ivao.se in the top-right corner. There is a clickable button that indicate whether there is any staffmember online or not. IVAO Sweden are very proud to present the completly new ATC tour 2011.

The tour is made by SE-TC Mikael Gerner, and takes you through eleven different airport, some smaller, some larger. You can choose the order yourself, the only requirement is that you are online at least 45 minutes and staff the TWR position or higher (and of course that you have a Swedish GCA permit). This is a unique possibility to discover the different airports. If you announce your acitivity in the fourm before getting online, you might get a larger amount of traffic. However, since most of the airports are rather small, you can use the online time to read on ATC procedures, maybe the local or the standard if you want to increase your ATC rating.
Welcome to the new tour - hope that you will find it attracting!

The pilot and leg count continues to raise, and will hopefully do so during the other half of 2011.
The Swedish Division is very proud to announce that the tours for 2011 so far has attracted 30 pilots, who has together flown a total of 426 legs. The most popular of the tours so far is the Swedish VFR tour, with 216(!) reported legs which is very good. However, the Scandinavian Airlines tour, designed by Advisor Erik Linge in cooperation with Scandinavian Airlines, is also going strong with 72 flown legs, counting thousands of miles.
To celebrate the great numbers, we are just about to launch a completly new tour, for Air Traffic Controllers. Keep your eyes widely spread here on the website, in our forums, on Twitter and on Facebook for more information!
